The price of bitcoin starts the new year off by piercing $1000.
Bitcoin closed the year strong, hitting $800 on December 18th. Five days later it hit $900 on December 23rd.
Many thought bitcoin would ride the wave of adoption in China to finish the year at $1000, but it narrowly missed the mark before making good on New Years Day 2017.
The price rising this quickly always brings claims that bitcoin is in a bubble.
Yet, as government currencies continue to play the game of who’s “least worst”, bitcoin stands a good chance to continue providing a safe haven.
